Ōpōtiki is renowned for having a huge engagement in sports. There are approximately 35 community sports teams in winter sports this year. With Ōpōtiki College being the only secondary school in the town, we are proud of the amazing accomplishments our current and alumni students have made in the sports industry. 

 

Luka Connor was a student at Ōpōtiki College from 2011-2015 and was exceptional in playing sports. Luka is now a New Zealand rugby union player. She was part of the Black Ferns 2021 Rugby World Cup squad that won their sixth title here on home ground, in Aotearoa Eden Park. Luka proudly represents Ōpōtiki in all of her promotional and voluntary videos that we see on social media. Kei runga noa atu koe, e Hine!
