School Houses
Maurua ki Tua is the purple house which represents our Māori medium pathways. Maurua is the schools Bilingual unit which has its own Tumuaki (interim Principal), Faith Gebert. The Maurua unit are the face of the school when it comes to performing at cultural events in our iwi of Te Whakatohea and they proudly represent Ōpōtiki College in all cultural exchanges.
Taitoa embodies two houses that were put to rest in 2021, Rutherford and Freyberg and these colours represent a warrior spirit in the kura. Taitoa is run by their Kaitakawaenga, Fiona Edwards who runs a tight ship in the mainstream side of the kura.
Manatū brings together the values of two houses that were also put to rest in 2021, Mansfield and Ngata. These colours represent its students standing with Mana and Pride. Manatū is run by Outdoor Education teacher, Hamish McKenzie who is an awesome male role model for the students in Manatu House.
